You may not remember a time when the U.S. Government was a tangled mess of bureaucracy, but that’s what was happening in late July 2011, when I made this journal quilt. We were in the midst of a crisis about the debt ceiling and every day the news was filled with coverage about what a nightmare things were in Congress. So, fed up with hearing about it, I made a bureaucratic red tape quilt:
I grabbed a strip of red fabric, some red ribbon, red yarn, etc., dropped them in a big pile on the background and just stitched them down. It was actually a little cathartic and it was definitely the fastest journal quilt that I created.
