Mother and Daughter is a sewn photograph by fiber artist Julie Brown Neu. Digital photograph printed on cotton fabric, hand-guided free-motion embroidery. 5″ x 7″ image, custom-matted in a 7″ x 9″ frame. Part of the Botanica series.
This image represents new life and beginnings, having been taken in the hospital recovery room where I was celebrating my very first Mother’s Day, after giving birth the day before. I printed this close-up photo of purple hydrangeas onto cotton fabric, hand colored and then stitched two focal blooms in purple thread.
